The Richard Hamill Student Travel Award

Dr. Richard Hamill, one of the original founders of both NYS ATSA and The Alliance, was a strong advocate and tireless promoter of educational, professional, and experimental opportunities for students and interns interested in the areas of criminal justice, victim advocacy, and the reduction of sexual violence in our communities.  This is given in his honor.

NYS ATSA and The Alliance have established The Richard Hamill Student Travel Award to honor outstanding undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in becoming involved in the sex offender management field. The award provides a stipend to help defray some or all travel expenses and complimentary meeting registration fees for the NYS ATSA & The Alliance Annual Conference, which is held each Spring.

As part of the student award, each recipient will be asked to assist board members at our sign in/sign out tables at the beginning and end of the workshops, as well as attend any student events. We strive to create opportunities for our student attendees to meet potential employers and network throughout the conference. We may ask you to participate in activities that will allow for further opportunities to connect with professionals in the field. If you have questions about this process, please contact Jennifer Cinicolo at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

The Alliance award is open to any student currently working or studying in the field of sexual violence or a closely related field. The NY ATSA award is limited to undergraduate or graduate students who are either student affiliate or full members of NY ATSA. Awardees are chosen based on the merit of the application and the letter of recommendation.
